US policies are not only yielding gains that outpace those of other countries, they are also helping those nations advance their own national interests.

Inflation helped reduce the federal government’s massive debt obligations post WWII, but such a strategy won’t work with today’s investors, who have other options. The US must issue longer-term bonds at today’s low rates and reform its retirement programmes to defuse the debt bomb.

American workers’ wages are rising and so is their spending, as poor growth elsewhere means low interest rates and, therefore, bargains everywhere.
