This weekend, guest shifts abound as Taipei’s unDer Lab and Bangkok’s Messengerservice both take over Qura at the Regent for two nights, while Craftroom from Osaka appears at The Aubrey. For a cheeky pre-dinner cocktail, Le Bar at Black Sheep’s Jean-Pierre has expanded its offerings.

Qura at the Regent is hosting a dual takeover on Thursday and Friday, as unDer Lab from Taipei and Messengerservice from Bangkok run successive shifts on both nights.

From the experimental Taiwan bar is head bartender Green Liu, bringing meticulously crafted signature cocktails that lean on unexpected ingredients. A former marine microbiology researcher, Liu’s science background informs her creations.

Messengerservice – Asia’s 90th best bar last year, and winner of best bar design from the same body – is represented by R&D manager Tug and senior bartender Por (what better name for someone in the industry?). Their cutting-edge creations include the Sushi Roll, made from sake, cucumber, wasabi distillate, ginger, truffle oil and tsuyu sauce.
