Raise your gloss
Skincare brand Laneige hosted a party at the Cucina restaurant in the Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel to celebrate the launch of its latest product range. With promises of refreshing cocktails and free makeovers, a horde of fashionistas, socialites and bloggers flocked to the event.
Enjoying the evening were models Zelia Zhong, Elva Ni (the 2005 Miss Chinese Toronto winner), male model Zenki and socialite Elaine Lee. Another VIP was hunky Taiwanese actor Kenji Wu, sporting a low V-cut T-shirt.
The guest of honour was popular Korean actress Song Hye-kyo, who proved as popular with fashionistas as with fans of Korean soap operas.
	
Hospital charity ball has its fans
The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals hosted an "Age of Elegance" charity ball recently at the JW Marriott hotel, with Chief Secretary Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor as guest of honour.
Some HK$2.5 million was raised at the event, which Tung Wah chairwoman Dr Ina Chan Un-chan said would help fund the group's hospital services. As the board of directors covered all of the event's expenses, no administrative costs will be deducted from the donations.
An antique ivory fan donated by Chan was popular at auction and raised HK$230,000. In the hot, humid weather - and for that price - let's hope it is as effective as that of Princess Iron Fan in Journey to the West.
	
Blast from the prehistoric past
It was a prehistoric family day for several celebrities and their children for the launch of The Venetian Macao's "Dinosaurs Live" exhibition. Among those helping to kick off the interactive Jurassic tour were Qiqi Yam, Eileen Tung, Cissy Wang, Flora Chan, Claire Yiu, Christine Au-Yeung and Joyce Lee. The show features 30 motorised dinosaurs that are distinctly low-tech.
Two life-sized raptors were unveiled at the opening, which were scary to look at but didn't frighten even the youngest child. This is probably a good thing because the nearest toilets are at least a five-minute walk away. Most of the youngsters clamoured to pet the prehistoric predators.
