Jackie Chan and JJ Lin’s new single ‘Skibidi’ baffles the internet
‘What kind of demented timeline are we living on?’ asks one social media commenter, while others describe the song as ‘lit’

Singaporean singer-songwriter JJ Lin has dropped a new single, “Skibidi”, in collaboration with Hong Kong martial arts legend Jackie Chan.
The title, a new word often attributed to Gen Alpha, was entered into the Cambridge Dictionary this month.
It is defined as “a word that can have different meanings, such as ‘cool’ or ‘bad’, or can be used with no real meaning as a joke”.
The word is part of the title of a hit YouTube series named Skibidi Toilet, in which anthropomorphic toilets battle camera-headed humans.
Lin says in the introduction of the song’s YouTube clip that the word does not have a particular meaning, and that it is rather silly and can be used in place of certain feelings that do not have words. He feels that it reflects a playful attitude towards life.
Chan can be heard providing vocals to the song among Lin’s upbeat flow, singing in similar tones to his earlier ballads, such as “Believe in Yourself”.
Famous for his rapping, Lin is also a producer who has become one of the most influential figures in Mandopop.
