Fireworks are set to light up the skies over Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour at 8pm on October 1, in celebration of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
To get a great view of the National Day pyrotechnics and a fine meal with it, why not book yourself in at a top-tier restaurant overlooking the harbour.
From fiery Northern Chinese flavours to a vibrant Mediterranean menu, here are five to choose from.
1. Hutong
Chinese restaurant Hutong is the perfect spot to watch the fireworks spectacle.
Its eight-course Fireworks Dinner Menu celebrates the restaurant’s signature fiery flavours, with items such as stir-fried Boston lobster with black bean chilli sauce and premium seared A5 Wagyu beef.
The menu costs HK$1,888 (US$240) per person, and a minimum of two guests is required per booking.

2. The Merchants

The Merchants is offering uninterrupted views of the fireworks and a decadent eight-course menu featuring reimagined Shanghainese classics, such as Mandarin fish with sweet and sour sauce prepared tableside, at HK$988 per person.
An à la carte menu featuring seasonal hairy crab dishes is also available.

3. Ming Court, Wan Chai

Ming Court’s elegant, modern setting provides a serene backdrop for chef Tsang Chiu-king’s expertly crafted Cantonese dishes, from flawlessly roasted meats to innovative contemporary creations.
While there is only a limited view of the harbour from the main dining area, guests at Ming Court will be ushered up to a dedicated area in the Great Eagle Centre to watch the fireworks.

4. Salisterra

Set your sights on this year’s dazzling display at Salisterra with a specially crafted five-course Mediterranean menu (HK$1,088), featuring dishes like scallop crudo and a choice of beef en croûte or seared stone bass.
Diners can also enjoy curated cocktails and a live DJ set in the Green Room, the segregated bar area of the restaurant, from 7pm onwards.

5. Wooloomooloo Prime

At Wooloomooloo Prime, enjoy a three-course dinner featuring dishes like slow-cooked Wagyu beef cheek and delicate Chilean sea bass.
From the 21st-floor terrace, you will have a panoramic view of the fireworks from Tsim Sha Tsui, looking back on Hong Kong Island.
The dinner is HK$1,288 per person, and you can elevate your meal with a supplementary wine pairing.
