The 18th edition of the Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau was announced on March 19 at an awards ceremony hosted at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau. In total, 98 restaurants across the two cities emerged with Michelin stars; 15 of them were new to the list.

The year 2026 celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Michelin starring system. The ceremony began with a homage to the guide’s gastronomic legacy, honouring chefs who are the “keepers of traditions” but also the “rebels”.

World-class chefs held their breaths, with the memory of three Hong Kong restaurants losing their stars last year still fresh, as well as the shock of the oldest three-star restaurant in Paris – L’Ambroisie recently downgraded in the Michelin Guide France unveiling on March 16.

New one-Michelin-star restaurants added to the list include Sushi Takeshi in Hong Kong, while Don Alfonso 1890 and Palace Garden represent Macau. The latest selection of starred restaurants for 2026 includes 77 in Hong Kong and 21 in Macau. The number of Michelin stars has increased for Macau by two since last year, while Hong Kong has increased by one.

The most prominent new name added to the one-Michelin-star list is Hong Kong’s China Tang. Conceived by the late Hong Kong businessman David Tang, the restaurant features Sichuan delicacies as well as Cantonese mainstays.
