June in Hong Kong arrives with humidity and sudden downpours, but that will not dampen the city’s craving for new restaurants.
New openings include a Korean seafood specialist and a late-night dessert bar serving chilled mango pomelo sago and other favourites.
A Tokyo ramen bar known for its unusual A4 Wagyu white broth has opened a new branch in Central, and a Sichuan-cuisine icon has opened a casual dim sum concept.
There is also a restaurant in Central that is reinventing two-dish rice, and a nature-inspired cafe offering a leafy escape from the city’s concrete jungle.
Whatever you are in the mood for, chances are you will find it among the new Hong Kong restaurants below.
1. Joyn

This contemporary Chinese restaurant in Central specialises in wild-caught seafood.
Signature highlights include drunken giant river prawn with 20-year-old Hua Diao wine, and double-wine-marinated mud crab. Beyond dinner, the restaurant serves handcrafted dim sum for lunch.

2. Sichuan Verandah

This restaurant at Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong offers elevated Sichuan cuisine, with dishes such as signature poached “saliva” chicken, mala-sauce boiled beef, and crisp Chongqing-style fried chicken with customisable spice levels.
Led by chef Jack Chan, the restaurant also serves up signature beverages, including the Mala Punch cocktail and fruity milkshakes designed to relieve the burn.

3. Parkside@Nina

This nature-inspired restaurant in Tin Hau blends botanical interiors with an all-day menu of Asian and European classics.
Signature dishes include Hainanese chicken rice, wonton noodle soup and baby suckling pig. For sharing, try the black pepper braised beef short ribs.
The bar serves creative cocktails such as a yuzu espresso martini and the Hong Kong Sling, and has an extensive wine list.

4. Avalon

Culinary director Jarrod Verbiak and chef de cuisine Mert Kucuka – a Noma alum – lead this restaurant at H Queen’s, which elevates familiar classics through labour-intensive techniques.
Seafood highlights include a New England-style clam chowder with house-smoked bacon, and a lobster and crab roll. Other signatures include an elevated Scotch egg with burnt-leek brown butter mayonnaise, and a premium Angus cheeseburger.

5. Fugazzi Pizzeria Napoletana
This pizzeria delivers a taste of Naples to Cullinan Sky Mall in Kai Tak. At its heart is a bespoke Stefano Ferrara oven, in which authentic 12-inch Neapolitan pizzas are baked to give them blistered, crispy crusts.
Signature pies include the Pizza al Carbonara with guanciale and egg yolk and the indulgent Mortadella e Pistachio. The house-made pastas, including Rigatoni alla Vodka and the Gnocchi Pomodoro Caprese, are also worth a try.

6. Central Table

Central Table is an all-day concept that infuses European classics with Southeast Asian spices.
A dedicated dry-ageing programme helps create interesting menu items such as the in-house minced Chiang Mai pork sausages and a twice-grilled threadfin, which is dry-aged overnight and served with a tamarind sauce.
The live seafood tank is stocked with lobster for the tom yum spaghetti. Creative desserts include the Thai green tea-ramisu with a refreshing hint of citrus.

7. Soon
This nostalgic Chinese dessert bar in Sheung Wan serves classic Hong Kong desserts and sweet soups.
Must-try menu items include the mango pomelo sago and the coconut purple rice soup. There are also glutinous rice dumplings covered with crushed peanuts, sesame and sugar.
The shop is open until midnight, making it perfect for those looking to sate their late-night cravings.

8. Minyoung Fresh Fish Factory
South Korean seafood specialist Minyoung Fresh Fish Factory’s first overseas outpost has just opened in North Point. With over 40 locations across South Korea, the chain specialises in hoe, or Korean-style sashimi, which is sliced thicker for a firmer, bouncier bite.
Must-try premium platters feature salmon, yellowtail, flatfish and rockfish. There is more than sashimi on the menu; do not miss the spicy fish roe stew or cold raw seafood soup.

9. Sanxilou, Temai and Sevens at BaseHall 02

Lunch breaks in Central just got more interesting with three bold new additions at BaseHall 02.
One is an outpost of Causeway Bay Sichuan restaurant San Xi Lou, famous for its fiery mala flavours and premium hotpot. This new branch trades the banquet setting for a casual dim sum and rice bar, with crystal shrimp dumplings, siu mai and a mala saliva chicken rice.
Japanese handmade onigiri concept Temai is another addition. From snow crab to A4 Wagyu sukiyaki, each rice ball is made fresh, and customisable bento boxes are available for those who crave a more substantial meal.
Finally, delivery- and takeaway-focused Sevens makes elevated two-dish rice. Its rotating mains include coconut curry beef cheek, okra with yuzu vinaigrette and honey wasabi chicken thigh with crispy potatoes.

10. Blue Box Cafe

Tiffany & Co will launch The Blue Box Cafe at its flagship store in Lee Garden Three on June 13. The menu is designed by chef Agustin Balbi of one-Michelin-star restaurant Ando.
The cafe’s elevated offerings include its signature Breakfast at Tiffany’s and a specialised afternoon tea that blends Western classics with Hong Kong ingredients.

11. Mian’s Story
Mian, the regional Chinese restaurant at The Murray hotel, has just opened a casual offshoot at the Elements mall in West Kowloon.
Must-try signature dishes include the organic tomato baked kurobuta pork chop rice. There are also ginger razor clams, and the silky steamed threadfin with Hua Diao and chicken oil. The Mian spring onion chicken is also recommended.

12. Kikanbo

Tokyo’s famous ramen brand Kikanbo has just opened another Hong Kong outlet in Central.
Signature dishes include the mala miso ramen and two location-exclusive items: spicy miso curry rice, and Wagyu beef white broth ramen – a rich, creamy broth served with Hokkaido A4 Wagyu shoulder.
There are three levels of spice to choose from. Hardcore spice lovers can take on the extreme “Hell Level” challenge.

13. Don Pedro

This Argentinian steakhouse in Sai Ying Pun is all about providing an unpretentious experience and hearty meats.
The restaurant sources some of its meat from Parrilla Don Julio in Buenos Aires, considered one of the most prestigious farms in the world.
As well as succulent dry-aged rib eyes and tenderloins, the menu features appetisers and sides such as beef empanadas, bone broth tea, patatas bravas and wedge salad.

14. Lazy Suzy
This quaint, casual diner on Staunton Street serves international dishes with an Asian twist.
The beef tartare is served on rice crackers and seasoned with Sichuan pepper mayo, while the chicken liver pâté is flambéed with Mao-tai, a kind of baijiu made in mountainous Guizhou province in southwestern China, and served with Pop-Pan crackers.
Dishes are party-sized by default, so make sure to let the wait staff know if anyone you are with has dietary requirements.

15. Lin Heung Lau
This old-school Hong Kong dim sum institution is opening a new branch in Sheung Wan. The interior is as nostalgic as at the original location, but rather than dim sum trolleys, this new branch features a dim sum station where diners can take their pick of dumplings and more.
Ordering at the table is also possible via dim sum sheets, with dishes including the restaurant’s famous steamed rice, siu mai and chicken feet.
