Spring is here and with it an all-new line-up of tantalising K-drama offerings, ranging from fantasy, action and animation to a wide variety of romance.

1. Bloodhounds season 2

Lead cast: Woo Do-hwan, Lee Sang-yi, Rain

Following their first rip-roaring adventure, Gun-woo (Woo Do-hwan) and Woo-jin (Lee Sang-yi) are back for a second helping of cathartic beatdowns in Bloodhounds 2.
Jason Kim is once again at the helm, directing from his own scripts, while this season’s villain is the vicious underground boxing figure Baek-jung, played by K-pop icon Rain (Ghost Doctor).

Gun-woo has been pursuing a successful career as a boxer. However, when Baek-jung scouts him for his illicit matches and puts his family in danger, Gun-woo and Woo-jin must once again put up their fists to fight for what is right. (Netflix, April 3)

2. Perfect Crown

Lead cast: IU, Byeon Woo-seok

Following the rapturously received When Life Gives You Tangerines, K-pop idol IU (aka Lee Ji-eun) has teamed up with Byeon Woo-seok (Lovely Runner) for Perfect Crown, which imagines present-day South Korea as a constitutional monarchy.

IU plays corporate heiress Seong Hee-ju, who has everything she could want, save for royal status. That may change when she becomes involved with Prince I-an (Byeon).

Perfect Crown is one of two glossy monarchy fantasy romances scheduled this year, along with The Remarried Empress starring Shin Min-a, Lee Jong-suk and Ju Ji-hoon. (MBC/Disney+, April 10)

3. Yumi’s Cells season 3

Lead cast: Kim Go-eun, Kim Jae-won
