New permanent Sailor Moon theatre in Tokyo promises magical experiences for global fans
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon’s legacy continues to thrive with a new, permanent Tokyo theatre, which will feature an original story

More than 30 years after Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon first sparked a global phenomenon as a manga series and helped establish the fighting magical girl genre, the franchise continues to evolve with the opening of a new permanent theatre in Tokyo.
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon – Shining Theatre Shinagawa Tokyo is set to open in Shinagawa Prince Hotel’s Club eX in April, with performances to be staged throughout the year.
The new venue will carry on the legacy of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon – Shining Moon Tokyo, a theatre restaurant that opened briefly in 2019 in the Azabu-Juban district, the setting of the series, in the Japanese capital’s Minato Ward.
“The biggest difference is that previously there were five Sailor Guardians, whereas this time all 10 Sailor Guardians will appear in a completely original story,” explains Michiho Matsumoto, a managing director and producer at Nelke.
The theatre will also offer meet-and-greet opportunities with the cast and themed drinks.
