What’s her background?
Ribeiro was born in October 1990, in Miguel Alves in the Brazilian state of Piauí. Before becoming a model, she was studying to be a nurse. At 18, she gave birth to her son, Alexandre.
How was Lais Ribeiro discovered?
Ribeiro was discovered in 2009 in Brazil and started doing shows in her home country before moving to the US shortly after having her son and started working with Victoria’s Secret. Since then, she has worked with Tom Ford, Versace, Givenchy, Bottega Veneta among other brands.
She also hosted the Brazilian reality show Born to Fashion (2020), which gave a platform to transgender models. She called this “the most important job that I have done”, in an interview with women’s lifestyle website SheKnows.
