New York Fashion Week 2025: Coach’s melancholic whimsy and Tory Burch’s polished sportswear

Coach paid sepia-toned homage to the streets of New York, while Tory Burch was inspired by ‘femininity and strength, precision and imperfection’
Coach, the American brand known for its bestselling bags, has been on a roll.
Thanks to the success of items such as the Tabby and Brooklyn bags, the label has been a bright spot for parent company Tapestry, which also owns Kate Spade New York.

When creative director Stuart Vevers joined the brand more than a decade ago, Coach had no fashion identity to speak of, but the British designer has since built a solid ready-to-wear foundation that resonates with the younger crowd.
For spring/summer 2026, Vevers covered a structure in downtown Manhattan in fabrics printed with sepia-toned pictures of New York streets.
Those images also appeared on T-shirts and dresses in a heartfelt homage to the city that Coach and Vevers call home.
New York’s grit and glamour were the starting points for a collection that celebrated lived-in objects to cherish and treasure.

Tattered knitwear, distressed denim, T-shirt dresses printed with whimsical motifs such as stars and balloons, and patchwork patterns combining the Coach logo with checks and plaids rounded out the melancholic show.
