Style Edit: Furla embodies a playful new spirit with the colourful Iride collection

The Iride Nail Bar at Milan Fashion Week was more than a pop-up on wheels – it launched an exciting range of bags while heralding a fresh approach
If you’re an established fashion house and planning to launch a playful new direction, what would be an entertaining and inviting way to go about it? How about turning a double-decker bus into a roving beauty parlour?

More than a mere pop-up, the nail bar on wheels was named Iride in honour of Furla’s latest collection of bags. Iride is Italian for Iris, who in Greek mythology was the goddess of the rainbow – and there couldn’t be a better description for the splashy, vibrant collection that spans a palette from delicious pinks (both blush pink and sakura) to a statement jade green and zesty paprika.

At the heart of the Iride range is a happy spirit of bold self-expression. Each bag – whether in crossbody or mini hobo style – features a “diamond cut” version of Furla’s famous arch-like logo, and readily adapts to all kinds of personal looks with an adjustable leather strap. As you would expect from Furla, Italian craftsmanship shines through in all the details, alongside the brand’s signature blend of bellezza (loveliness) and what it calls “equipoise” – a balance between the playfully modern, and designs that stand the test of time.

These are accessories that are as functional as they are fashionable. Above all, they encapsulate playfulness and the finding of joy in the everyday. The Iride range, as Furla says, is aimed at “those who live [and dress] in full colour”.
The collection also represents the exciting first chapter in Furla’s spirited new approach. Come Play with Us promises to inject a wonderful vibrancy into a brand that has been deeply rooted in quality, creativity and Italian flair since 1927 – and in so doing, captures the evolving and diversifying preferences of stylish women everywhere.
