Q&a / Chanel’s Bruno Pavlovsky on Matthieu Blazy’s first collection and the state of the market ahead of Métiers d’Art 2026

Chanel lands in New York and unveils a short video starring ambassadors Margaret Qualley and A$AP Rocky – Pavlovsky tells us more
Unique to Chanel, the Métiers d’Art range celebrates the maison’s unsung heroes, from embroiderer Lesage to milliner Maison Michel. The artisans of these legendary ateliers are behind Chanel’s most intricate creations, including its one-of-a-kind haute couture garments.
In anticipation of the Métiers d’Art show, the French maison launched a video starring long-time ambassador Margaret Qualley and the newly minted A$AP Rocky.
Directed by French filmmaker Michel Gondry – known for visually arresting music videos for artists like Björk and for films such as Academy Award winner Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) – the clip is a surrealist take on New York’s vibrant street life, set on busy subway trains and downtown neighbourhoods like the East Village and SoHo.
On the eve of the show, we sat down with Chanel’s president of fashion Bruno Pavlovsky to talk about Blazy’s era at Chanel, the importance of the US market to the brand and more.

Why did you decide to come to New York for Métiers d’Art 2026?
Tell me about the importance of the US market to Chanel.
The US has always been and still is the first market in terms of luxury globally. Now the economy here is doing very well and the business continues to boom and develop.

How are you approaching this new era at Chanel and the big changes that Matthieu has brought so far?
