Dare you risk double denim? Kendrick Lamar and Jaden Smith show how it’s done

From Paris to Manhattan, celebs such as Glen Powell are defining how to take on the ‘Canadian tuxedo’ and make it cool
Not everyone can pull off the double denim look, playfully known as the Canadian or Texan tuxedo.

At the Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2026 women’s show in Paris in September last year, Smith rocked an oversized denim jacket worn with nothing underneath and paired with matching pants with a hint of the brand’s signature monogram.
Powell, meanwhile, went for a more classic take. Back in November, he was photographed on the streets of Manhattan clad in a double-denim get-up worn with a white T-shirt, a quintessentially all-American look.

Meanwhile, Powell’s Running Man co-star Lee Pace’s version of the look was a bit off the mark. At the film premiere in New York late last year, the actor covered up a chambray shirt and matching pants with a black leather overcoat. His misguided choice of outerwear shows that sometimes keeping it simple and sticking to full denim is the wiser choice.
