Freud’s work on paper is featured at the National Portrait Gallery, while Emin’s 40-year career is covered in a retrospective at Tate Modern

London draws art lovers from around the world, but the pull is even stronger right now thanks to exhibitions featuring the works of two big names of recent decades: Tracey Emin and the late Lucian Freud.

Controversial and celebrated artist Tracey Emin – of the notorious unmade bed that caused an uproar in the late 90s – is the subject of a retrospective at Tate Modern. Covering her 40-year career, the show, titled “Tracey Emin: A Second Life”, was created in collaboration with Emin herself, and features more than 90 pieces, from paintings to videos and installations. From February 26 until August 31.

The work of another British artist, the late Lucian Freud, is also highlighted in London. “Lucian Freud: Drawing Into Painting”, at the National Portrait Gallery, is the first exhibition to focus on his works on paper. Among the works on display are eight recently acquired etchings. One of the etchings depicts his daughter Bella Freud, a renowned fashion designer and podcaster. From February 12 until May 3.
