Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez are just a few of the stars who made headlines this year with their choice of diamond jewellery

Nothing stirs up excitement quite like celebrity jewellery sightings, and this year there have been plenty of dazzling diamond debuts, from Zendaya to Selena Gomez and her long-time BFF Taylor Swift.
Swift practically launched a trend for antique-inspired sparklers when she and American football star Travis Kelce announced their engagement in August. He proposed to the pop megastar with an old-mine-cut diamond, a vintage-style cushion stone characterised by a squarish outline, rounded corners and soft, romantic sparkle, with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry designing the ring.

Back in May, Kim Kardashian made a bold statement with the shape and cut of her jewels when she arrived at the Palais de Justice courtroom in Paris to testify at the trial of those accused of stealing her jewellery in 2016. The billionaire mogul wore a smattering of gems, including a spectacular diamond necklace featuring a 10.13-carat pear-shaped centre stone as well as an ear cuff adorned with 12 pear-shaped diamonds, which according to some, represent individuality, joy and strength. Sending a message perhaps?
