“I love the way Boucheron blends bold creativity with a strong sense of heritage,” Edgar-Jones said in an interview with the brand ahead of the announcement. “It’s also inspiring to see two visionary women, [CEO] Hélène Poulit-Duquesne and [creative director] Claire Choisne, leading the charge,” she added, citing Choisne’s “truly artful” Fleurs Eternelles pieces as some of the maison’s most stunning creations.

In an official announcement by the maison, Poulit-Duquesne cited Edgar-Jones’ esteemed career across stage and screen as the driving force behind this ambassador appointment: “We see this partnership as a celebration of contemporary self-expression; of a confident, unapologetic freedom that’s perfectly aligned with the values that have always inspired us.”

Those values – talent, creativity and self-expression – have very well come to define the 27-year-old’s already prolific career since her breakthrough role as affluent social outcast Marianne Sheridan in Normal People. The young star, who dazzled at the Cannes Film Festival this year wearing Boucheron’s iconic Question Mark high jewellery necklace, is next set to star in a remake adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel, Sense and Sensibility.

Since 1858, Boucheron has prided itself on pushing the boundaries of what high jewellery can become in both the physical and emotional sense, frequently drawing on the beauty of nature as inspiration for its innovative and deeply moving pieces. Edgar-Jones likened creative director Choisne’s pieces to “wearable poetry”, a testament to her insightful ability to bring jewellery to life. “That necklace made from aerogel – it’s like putting a bit of sky around your neck,” Edgar-Jones said, referring to the Goutte de Ciel.

Jewellery continues to be a special and deeply personal source of inspiration for Edgar-Jones: “I used to go through my mum’s pieces as a kid – every piece holds its own story. There’s a magic to that, I think – there’s no wrong way to go about it.”
