Taylor Swift and Christopher Briney favour vintage timepieces for important moments, Louis Vuitton releases a shortlist, and Rolex goes atomic
The high horology scene has been bubbling all summer as Taylor Swift and The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Conrad Fisher (played by Christopher Briney) sported vintage gold watches for viral moments in August. Meanwhile, both the Grand Prix D’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) and Louis Vuitton are ramping up the festivities leading up to their respective watch awards by announcing competing watches.
Brands are releasing a wide variety of watches – some in gold, some in blue, some in ceramic and some that focus on art and technique – with many of these originating close to home. On the more technical side, Rolex is taking the quantum leap to make atomic clocks, and the chronometer authorities at COSC are looking to take things to the next level.
These are our favourite timepiece moments in July and August.

When your gym and English teachers are finally engaged, as Taylor Swift wrote in her Instagram caption about the occasion, we at Style immediately wondered what type of wrist candy she would wear to complement her new engagement ring. She didn’t go with her usual gold Cartier Panthère, but with the discontinued Cartier Santos Demoiselle, according to Hodinkee – a timeless, gold and diamond piece to set the tone for the beginning of the rest of her and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s lives.
While watching what’s arguably this summer’s most important show, The Summer I Turned Pretty, timepiece enthusiasts may find themselves on Team Conrad. Conrad Fisher, played by Christopher Briney, has been spotted multiple times on screen sporting a vintage Omega Constellation, known in the 1950s for its pie-pan dial and subtle elegance.
In the football world, where most players tend to lean towards sporty brands such as Hublot or Richard Mille, English forward Marcus Rashford announced his signing with FC Barcelona in stunning fashion, wearing a tuxedo and a beautifully skeletonised Patek Philippe reference 5180/1R-001.
GPHG and Louis Vuitton announce promising watches

All eyes were on Louis Vuitton in July – not due to any particular release, but because the luxury house announced its highly anticipated 20 semi-finalists for the 2025-26 Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives.
