2025 in timepieces: 9 top moments in watches this year, from Donald Trump’s tariffs to the return of Urban Jürgensen

Taylor Swift announced her engagement wearing a Cartier Santos Demoiselle, while Aaron Taylor-Johnson was named Omega’s new brand ambassador
Still, brands found time to make big moves. They signed new ambassadors and were seen on celebrity wrists not just on red carpets but at births, engagements and movie promotions, just to name a few. Urban Jürgensen got relaunched with Kari Voutilainen leading the charge, while in Hong Kong, local collectors created stunning new pieces via all-new brands to give enthusiasts even more options.
Here are 9 of the major timepiece moments that marked 2025.
LVMH Watch Week pushed ahead

Bulgari, Hublot, Tag Heuer, Tiffany & Co. and Zenith played the hits as the likes of the Serpenti, Big Bang, Carrera and Chronomaster Sport appeared in stunning new iterations. The Serpenti’s Tubogas and Seduttori lines received their own self-winding movements in the form of the BVS 100 Lady Solotempo calibre, a first for the brand, while Zenith’s Chronomaster Sport received rainbow gem-setting treatment. Tiffany & Co. leaned heavily on its legendary Tiffany diamond to give us two stunning Carat 128 Facet references, in maximalist yellow gold and the brand’s signature aquamarine.

There were no rules when it came to looks. Gérald Genta’s Gentissima Oursin was set with 137 fire opals, resulting in a show-stopping orange silhouette. Daniel Roth veered in the other direction, unveiling a discreet, time-only Extra Plat Souscription in a shift away from the brand’s successful and more familiar tourbillon models.

As always, Louis Vuitton gave us new Tambours few could have expected, with the Taiko Spin Time showing digital hours; and the Convergence, which is dominated by a digital display at 12 o’clock and, strikingly, not much else, in a glowing display of minimalism.
