Romy Mars, the 18-year-old daughter of Sofia Coppola and Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars, attended her very first couture show last week, sitting front row at Chanel’s autumn/winter 2025 presentation with her mother and younger sister, Cosima, 15.

The Coppolas coordinated their ensembles for the event, opting for complementary soft pastel hues. Mars wore a light blue cashmere dress from Chanel’s fall 2025 collection with a matching classic blue quilted top-handle bag.

Born into Hollywood royalty, Mars is no stranger to the spotlight. She first garnered media attention in 2023, when she famously attempted to charter a helicopter with her dad’s credit card to have dinner with a friend. Since then, she’s chosen to make her mark in Hollywood in slightly less dramatic ways – like making her Cannes red carpet debut last year alongside her grandfather Francis Ford Coppola. The emerging pop star also released her single “A-lister” last month.

The “Ultimate Nepo Baby”

Like most nepo babies, at only 18 years old, Mars is already a multi-hyphenate with wide-ranging industry experience to her name.
Mars was only 13 when she starred in a fashion campaign for Marc Jacobs’ teenage diffusion line, Heaven by Marc Jacobs, in 2020. The campaign was arguably bound to happen, given that her actress/filmmaker mum Sofia Coppola was Marc Jacobs’ ultimate muse. According to Harper’s Bazaar, Coppola met Jacobs when he was designing for Perry Ellis in the 1990s. She has since collaborated with him multiple times by appearing in his fashion and fragrance campaigns.

Coppola also has a history of working in fashion. In her teenage years, she interned at Chanel under the tutelage of the label’s late creative director, Karl Lagerfeld. This year, she directed a short video for Chanel’s cruise 2025-26 collection – so it only makes sense that her teenage daughter would have an overflowing collection of Chanel bags.
Aside from modelling, Mars is also a pop star who released her first EP - Stuck Up - in 2024. Her recent single “A-lister” presents her as a self-aware nepo baby. In her song, she talks about dating somebody famous and makes tongue-in-cheek commentary on the flashy but superficial life of the uber-rich.
