Last month, Hill lambasted her producer boyfriend on TikTok for leaving her for Lorde while making the ‘Royals’ singer’s latest album – now she’s turning her heartbreak into a new EP

Kacy Hill is known for many things: her genre-defying music spanning pop, country and folk, her early-career collaboration with Travis Scott, and most recently, the jab she made at her ex, Jim-E Stack, on TikTok.

In the video, Hill used Lorde’s “Man of the Year” as the soundtrack to poke fun at how her ex broke up with her during his work on the production of Lorde’s new album Virgin, then proceeded to date the singer. Hill didn’t name anyone, but fans quickly connected the dots to producer Jim-E Stack, Hill’s former partner of six and a half years.

In a follow-up video, she clarified that she just wanted to laugh at what happened in the past and that she was in a loving relationship now.

Many might remember Hill from her feature on one of Travis Scott’s most famous songs, “90210”, which ushered her into the spotlight. Although her music isn’t quite influenced by hip-hop and rap, she says she still admires the genre and its artists.

“Something that I really admire about hip-hop and rap is they’re very experimental with song structure and production over the last, I don’t know, 20 years, especially,” she told Slug Mag. “I’ve learned so much from those rooms and from those artists in there, risk-taking and questioning how songs are structured and how songs are made.”

However, Hill has made it clear – especially through TikTok – that she doesn’t identify with that period of her life any more. Addressing the fans who insist she is inseparable from “90210” and should reunite with Scott, she emphasised that she has moved on.
