She’s named after iconic movie characters
Perhaps Payne’s parents had an inkling of what their kids would grow up to become. Her younger sister, who works in fashion, is aptly named Dolcé.
She’s always wanted to be a performer
In a 2024 interview with The Face, Payne revealed that she’d always wanted to be a performer and had spent her childhood dreaming of becoming a singer. At her mum’s encouragement, she auditioned for a musical, calling it “the best decision I’ve ever made”.
Payne went on to graduate from a performance course from Columbia College Chicago in 2022 and almost immediately secured a manager. Soon enough, she was auditioning and just seven months after graduating, she landed her first ever screen role in Presumably Innocent as Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Negga’s daughter.
Before securing her acting role, Payne had been a kickboxing instructor and part of a K-pop cover dance crew named Duple Dance Crew.
