Nell Fisher, playing a pivotal role in season five, is only 14 years old – but she’s already acted alongside Elijah Wood

After spending the last four years as a minor background character, Holly, played by Nell Fisher in season five, becomes a central figure as she is kidnapped by Vecna (played by Jamie Campbell Bower). Now, the future of Hawkins may be in Holly’s hands.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Stranger Things newcomer, Nell Fisher.
The 14-year-old is British-New Zealander

Fisher might have fooled fans with her American accent in Stranger Things, but the 14-year-old actress is actually half British and half New Zealander. Fisher was born in London in November 2011; her mum is a British diplomat, per Grazia Daily, and the young actress has lived in various countries including South Africa, New Zealand and the UK.
She loved acting from a young age

During an interview with Teen Vogue, Fisher revealed that her love of acting started early, when she and her younger sister would put on shows for their parents. Fisher made her acting debut in the 2022 New Zealand film Northspur, but it wasn’t until she landed a role in the 2023 horror film Evil Dead Rise that Fisher realised she really wanted to pursue acting. “[I] just spent three months head to toe in fake blood. That was kind of when I realised this was something I really wanted to do, and it all sort of snowballed from there,” she told the publication.
