The Hulu show starring Grace Van Patten, Jackson White and Spencer House is in its third season – but what do you know about its creator?
The highly anticipated third season of Tell Me Lies, the hit drama show starring Grace Van Patten and Jackson White, has officially landed on Hulu. The show, created by Meaghan Oppenheimer and based on Carola Lovering’s novel of the same name, follows the toxic years-long relationship between Lucy Albright (Van Patten) and the narcissistic Stephen DeMarco (White) after they cross paths at Baird College and become involved.

Season three premiered with the release of the first three episodes, which are already getting rave reviews. The showrunner, Oppenheimer, called the latest instalment a “horror comedy” in an interview with Forbes, adding, “The stakes are just higher than they’ve ever been. The consequences are more permanent than they’ve ever been.”

Meaghan Oppenheimer grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and attended Holland Hall School, according to an interview she gave to The Creative Process. Her parents, Reed and Gabrielle Oppenheimer, are philanthropists and run the non-profit organisation, the Reed Jules Oppenheimer Foundation. Oppenheimer has three siblings, Sophie, Eric and Luke. In case you were wondering, she is not related to J. Robert Oppenheimer, aka the “father of the atomic bomb”.

As a child, Oppenheimer had an interest in subjects like English, history and theatre. She started acting at a young age and eventually got into writing. “[Acting] definitely was what taught me how to write, because I was always reading scripts and reading plays,” she recalled in her interview with The Creative Process.
