The 28-year-old actor uses she/they pronouns. Speaking to Variety, they explained the choice as “a relationship with [their] own queerness as well as race”. They emphasised that although they often present as “pretty femme”, they don’t see themselves “fitting into what [they] think is a very white-conceived perception of femininity”. Naming Lily Gladstone as the inspiration behind them adopting she/they pronouns, Ganesh added, “It also feels like a little bit of a shout-out, being like, ‘Hey, I’m queer. See me.’”

Ganesh was born on December 16, 1997, in Austin, Texas. Their parents are Indian, and the family moved to New Delhi when Ganesh was three, per The Nod Mag. They moved back to the States to attend Columbia University, where they were a neuroscience major with a minor in gender studies, per Harper’s Bazaar. They took the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test), scoring in the 99th percentile, and started working as an MCAT tutor. They continued tutoring while filming the first season of The Pitt.
