Meet Meryl Streep’s daughter, Grace Gummer, who plays Caroline Kennedy in Love Story

Ryan Murphy’s new limited series, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette on FX, looks back at the whirlwind romance and eventual tragic death of JFK Jr. and Bessette in the 1990s, an incident that further reinforced speculations of the so-called “Kennedy curse”.

In July 1999, Bessette, her sister Lauren, and JFK Jr. were killed in a plane crash, with him as the pilot. The unfortunate incident left his elder sister, Caroline Kennedy – played by actress Grace Gummer in the series – as the only surviving family member.

The eldest child and daughter of former president JFK and Jacqueline Kennedy, Caroline, 68, has suffered the loss of several family members in her life. She was barely six years old when her father, President John F. Kennedy, was publicly assassinated in 1963. Five years later, she lost her uncle Robert F. Kennedy, who was assassinated during a presidential campaign, and her mother, Jackie, died of illness in 1994. Only five years later, she lost her brother and sister-in-law to a plane crash. Late last year, tragedy struck once more when she said goodbye to her daughter, Tatiana Celia Kennedy Schlossberg, who revealed the previous year that she had been diagnosed with cancer, per Today. She was 35 years old.
