Sophia debuts as writer/director with Chop Cheese, a New York coming-of-age film starring her father, Law & Order actor Christopher Meloni
Christopher Meloni’s daughter, Sophia Meloni, is set to make her screenwriting and directorial debut with an upcoming indie film called Chop Cheese, which will star the former Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actor alongside Michael Gandolfini and others.

The plot follows a 16-year-old boy coming into his own in New York. Produced by Lisa Rudin, the film is based on a short story the 25-year-old actress wrote in college. The protagonist is inspired by her own brother, Dante Amadeo Meloni, 22, who underwent a “radical self-discovery” in New York City. Her experience as a child of famous parents also influenced the screenplay.

Sophia’s mother, artist Sherman Williams, best known as the art director of Platoon (1986), who married Christopher Meloni in 1995, also helped out with Chop Cheese, alongside Sophia’s cousins.

Sophia Eva Pietra Meloni, the first child of Christopher Meloni and Sherman Williams, was born on March 23, 2001. She grew up with her younger brother, Dante, and calls actress Mariska Hargitay her godmother, per People. She attended Wesleyan University, and the Law & Order: SVU actress attended her graduation party.

In an interview with People magazine, Christopher described one of his children as “an old soul” who’s “here to teach [him]” and the other as “a young soul”, adding, “It’s ever-evolving and a complete fulfilment of my life.”
