The actress wed Michael Barrett and took a step back from Hollywood, but now she’s back as Cindy Campbell in Scary Movie 6

After keeping a low profile these last few years, Anna Faris reprised her role as Cindy Campbell in Scary Movie 6, the latest instalment of the popular 2000s horror-comedy franchise released on June 5.

Faris, known for starring in films like Lost in Translation (2003), House Bunny (2008) and Brokeback Mountain (2005), shocked fans in 2020 when she announced that she was leaving her popular long-running CBS sitcom, Mom, after seven years. In 2024, Faris also stopped sharing new episodes of her popular podcast titled Anna Faris is Unqualified.

But Faris never completely quit Hollywood, and has continued starring in movies like The Estate (2022) and My Spy: The Eternal City (2024), though she’s taken a step back and turned her focus to voice acting work. In 2023, she starred in a Super Bowl commercial for the brand Avocados From Mexico.

Upon the release of Scary Movie 6, Faris has spoken up about struggling in Hollywood – and the spotlight has fallen once again on what happened between her and ex-husband Chris Pratt, with whom she shares son Jack.

Pratt and Faris divorced in 2018, and she quit Mom in 2020 – a decision she said was not “conscious” but led to her spending more time with Jack, whom she welcomed in 2012.

In 2021, she eloped with cinematographer Michael Barrett. The pair were first linked in 2017 – shortly after Faris announced her separation from Pratt, whom she was married to since 2009.
