Fashion’s favourite “It” boy, Jonathan Anderson, who made his debut as the creative director of Dior at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, just got his tarot cards read – and the internet is obsessed.
On November 23, Trevor Ballin shared a photo of Anderson’s tarot spread on Instagram. The post went viral, getting over 50,000 likes. Social media was buzzing with Anderson’s reading for days, from enthusiasts trying to decode the Irish designer’s reading to Vogue noting that Christian Dior himself leaned into superstition too.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Ballin has done a reading for Anderson. In 2024, the designer got his cards read twice – once in April and again in October. The year before that, he sought tarot wisdom the night before he was named International Designer of the Year at the CFDA Fashion Awards. All his spreads were posted on Ballin’s Instagram.

In addition to his work as a tarot reader for the stars, Ballin, who hails from Canada, is also an apparel designer. He studied fashion and apparel design at New York’s Parsons School of Design – The New School. He is currently a design consultant for Studio Tricot, which he owns. He was previously a senior designer for Michael Kors, served as design director for brands like Isaac Mizrahi, Gap, Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang and Calvin Klein, and was the creative director of Derek Lam from 2010 to 2019. He also worked with the retailer Lane Bryant as vice-president of design. He seems to specialise in knitwear and woven garments.
