Carolyn Bessette was thrust into the limelight when she began dating and eventually married John F. Kennedy Jr, the only son of former president John F. Kennedy and his wife Jacqueline Kennedy. In July 1999, just three years after their wedding, JFK Jr piloted and tragically crashed a plane that killed him, Bessette – and Bessette’s older sister Lauren.
Ryan Murphy’s hit FX series Love Story dramatises the whirlwind romance between JFK Jr and the former Calvin Klein publicist and 90s style icon, with actors Paul Anthony Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon taking on the role of the beloved “It” couple.

She has a twin sister
Lauren Bessette and her twin sister Lisa were born in November 1964 to parents William Bessette and Ann Messina. William worked as an architectural engineer, while Ann was a teacher and administrator. William and Ann welcomed Carolyn 14 months later, in January 1966.
Lauren’s parents divorced when she was still young and her mother went on to marry Dr Richard Freeman, an orthopaedic surgeon. The girls moved with their mother and stepfather to Greenwich, Connecticut, where they were raised.
She worked in Hong Kong for several years
