New opening: Kinship Opening this month in Central is a new restaurant venture by Chris Grare and Arron Rhodes. The high-end skincare and make-up brand has been inspired by the rose for years, using it as one of their major ingredients in its hero line, named after the rose. Nobu celebrates Nikkei cuisine’s diversity at the InterContinental Hong Kong Highlights of the afternoon tea set include toasted prawn sandwich with lemon mayonnaise, rose and raspberry macaron, and Earl Grey tea jelly with rose and strawberry jam. The garden tray on which the afternoon tea is presented, for example, mimics the curves of a tea field, while dry ice is used to emulate morning fog and sweeps over the tea fields. 7 Asian afternoon tea sets to savour in Hong Kong and Macau Highlights of the tea set include Woojeon green tea opera cake, 1963 Mandarin cheesecake with green tea powder and a strawberry tart made using Korean strawberries. The chef, who first joined The Peninsula Hong Kong in 1986, is an established name and face at the hotel group. He has had stints at other Peninsula properties, including the Yi Long Court in Shanghai, which received two Michelin stars in 2017 and 2018 under his leadership. Spring Moon at The Peninsula hotel gives diners a taste of the 1920s In Hong Kong, diners can order Tang’s tea-pairing menus, made in collaboration with dim sum chef Kanny Cheuk and Spring Moon’s tea master. Lunch and dinner menus are available, as well as a special Chef Tang tasting dinner menu available only on May 9. Hailing from New York, Atomix boasts a Korean fine dining concept spearheaded by husband-and-wife team, Junghyun Park and Ellia Park. The restaurant, the second for the duo, offers an always changing 10-course tasting menu that brings modern Korean cuisine to the table. Within the first year of opening, the restaurant received its first Michelin star. Billed as an exclusive pop-up event, a portion of VEA Lounge has been transformed into a lush, tropical scene where a six-course cocktail tasting takes place. Cocktail lovers may already have heard of BarChef, which focuses on creating drinks that blur the lines between the five senses – including taste. Four drinks, including three signature cocktails, from BarChef are available: Orchid Garden, Gala, Elderflower Spritz and Amaro & Campari Sour.
