A 15-year-old student was stabbed multiple times at a secondary school in Malaysia on Monday, in an attack that sent students fleeing and prompted a police investigation.
The suspect, also 15, has been arrested and was set to be remanded on Tuesday, with the case being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said police received a report at about 9.50am on Monday that a female student had been injured within a school compound in Banting.
Initial investigations found that the girl had been stabbed by another female student.
The victim was stabbed in the back and shoulder and suffered an injury to her left lung. She is being treated in hospital and is in a stable condition, according to health authorities.
Police said the alleged attacker had been absent from the school for several months while undergoing medical treatment.


Mohd Akmalrizal confirmed the suspect would be brought to the Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court for a remand application on Tuesday.
According to sources cited by local media, the suspect entered the school through the main gate shortly before the attack, wearing a black T-shirt and red chequered trousers.
How the assault unfolded remains unclear and investigators have not yet established a motive.
Teachers reportedly restrained and calmed the suspect before alerting police. Officers arrived and detained the student, recovering a knife believed to have been used in the attack.

Unverified claims online allege the suspect was a former student expelled from the school who returned seeking revenge.
Police did not confirm the claim and have urged the public not to speculate on the case, warning that doing so could interfere with the ongoing investigation.
The Selangor Health Department said that the victim was brought to the accident and emergency department of the hospital in Banting at 10.13am local time on Monday.
“The patient is being monitored and reviewed so that they receive the appropriate care,” the department said in a statement on Monday.
The Selangor Education Department said it would cooperate fully with the police investigation, adding that counsellors and guidance teachers had been mobilised to provide psychosocial support to students, teachers and the wider school community affected by the incident.

The victim’s father told local media that he believed his daughter was not the intended target.
“She may have just been closest to the suspect at that moment,” he said from the hospital on Monday. “My daughter is slightly bigger in size and perhaps didn’t have time to run. Many other students managed to escape.”
He added that his daughter had sustained multiple injuries – mainly to her back, as well as to her face and lips – but was conscious and able to speak.
Investigations are ongoing.
