Chinese hospital patient ‘attacks boy, 10, with meat cleaver on school bus in retaliation for being pushed by child’s father’

A 10-year-old son of a Chinese hospital worker suffered life-threatening injuries after reportedly being stabbed on a school bus by a former patient wielding a meat cleaver.

Surveillance footage recorded on the bus on Monday showed the boy being stabbed 12 times after the suspect boarded the vehicle and attacked him while holding him down in his seat, The Beijing News reported on Wednesday.

The condition of Weiwei, from Yuejiaqiao, in the city of Yiyang, in Hunan province, was now no longer life threatening and he had since left the local hospital’s intensive care and was being treated in a general ward, the report said.

The suspect, named in the report as Jia Mouping, 54, was immediately arrested by police following the incident. He remains in custody while an investigation is carried out.
