Tourism Australia has received nearly 11,000 applications from Hongkongers eager to nail one of six coveted jobs Down Under.
The call for entries to the "Best Jobs in the World" competition ended on Wednesday.
Six positions were up for grabs: chief funster in New South Wales, outback adventurer in the Northern Territory, park ranger in Queensland, wildlife caretaker in South Australia, lifestyle photographer in Melbourne, and taste master in Western Australia.
Successful candidates get a A$50,000 (HK$405,700) salary, allowances and benefits worth another A$50,000.
Tourism Australia received 10,908 applications from Hong Kong, more than those from the mainland and Taiwan, which were 6,061 and 4,473 respectively.
But they were just a fraction of the more than 600,000 applications made from 196 countries.
The highest numbers came from the United States, with more than 90,000 applications, and Britain, with almost 87,000. Hong Kong came in 11th, ahead of Canada and behind Spain.
"I'm thrilled to see the fantastic response from Hong Kong," said Carmen Tam, the city's Tourism Australia manager.
"Hong Kong applicants chose the chief funster and taste master jobs as their top two choices. It's not surprising as we like to experience exciting events in other vibrant cities and we're known for our love of food," she said.
The competition was open to anyone aged over 18 and eligible for a visa to work in Australia.
Entrants had to submit a 30-second video on why they were the best person for the job.
The campaign came after the post of Great Barrier Reef caretaker was offered in Queensland in 2009.
