Fung shui masters have berated him for crossing a line by developing a sexual relationship with late tycoon Nina Wang Kung Yu-sum - which they say shamed the practice - and for bad-mouthing fung shui since his conversion to Christianity.

"It is shameless for Chan to speak ill of fung shui now," master Szeto Fat-ching said. "Religious belief is a personal choice. But you don't use the religion to sell your image and you don't take advantage of the human network brought by the belief.

"If you do, it's doubtful whether you are faithful to the religion."

Chan, known as Tony when he was acting as Wang's fung shui adviser but as Peter since his conversion in March, has called the ancient Chinese art "works of evil".

Another master, Gladys Mak Ling-ling, questioned the ethics of Chan's conduct.

"Like the relationship between a doctor and a patient, fung shui masters should not engage in an intimate relationship with their clients and should not maintain a sexual relationship," Mak said.
