To groom young entrepreneurs, a HK$450,000 start-up fund will be launched at the annual Ani-Com and Games Hong Kong fair next week.

The five-day event, which is in its 19th year, will start on July 28 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, closely on the heels of the Hong Kong Book Fair, which ends on July 25.

Leung Chung-poon, the convention’s chief executive, said the fund was aimed at cultivating a new generation of entrepreneurs interested in animation, comics and games.

“We encourage involvement by parents and aim to develop the creative interests of children and young people,” Leung said.

Organised by non-profit-making institution Art Plus Education Foundation, the first Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games entrepreneurship programme will assist 10 teams of young people aged between 18 and 35 with a combined HK$450,000 fund. Participants will be mentored and given funding to promote their businesses and grow their brands.
