Fengshen: Hong Kong may issue T3 typhoon signal between 5pm and 7pm on Monday
Forecaster also issues strong monsoon signal as local winds strengthen

The Hong Kong Observatory has said it will consider issuing the No 3 typhoon signal between 5pm and 7pm on Monday, as Tropical Storm Fengshen edges closer to the city.
The forecaster issued the strong monsoon signal at 10.50pm on Sunday as local winds strengthened under the influence of a northeastern monsoon. It said the No 3 typhoon alert would replace the strong monsoon signal when issued.
Fengshen entered within 800km (500 miles) of Hong Kong on Sunday night, the Observatory said.
“With Fengshen edging closer to the coast of Guangdong gradually [on Monday], the Observatory will consider issuing the strong wind signal, No 3, directly between 5pm and 7pm to replace the strong monsoon signal,” it said.
“Under the combined effect of Fengshen and the monsoon, it will be persistently windy and will become cloudy with rain in the next few days. Rain will be more frequent at times on Tuesday and early Wednesday.”
