Amber rainstorm warning cancelled, 11 flooding cases recorded in Hong Kong
More than 60 teams deployed after emergency control centre activated at 7.30am, drainage department says
Hong Kong recorded at least 11 flooding cases in the northern New Territories while the amber rainstorm warning signal was in force.
The Hong Kong Observatory cancelled the warning signal at 11.55am on Tuesday, after issuing it at 5.30am. It earlier warned that severe rain in Yuen Long could cause serious flooding and urged the public to take necessary precautions.
The Drainage Services Department said it dispatched more than 60 teams after activating its emergency control centre at 7.30am to respond to flooding reports.
As of 11am, the department had identified 11 flooding cases, most of them in North district, including on Fanling Highway near North District Hospital and in villages such as Ping Che Lei Uk Tsuen and Fanling Tong Hang Tsuen.
Six cases had been resolved, while work continued on the remaining five.
