Hong Kong cancels amber rainstorm warning after heavy showers disrupt classes
Education Bureau says students attending morning and whole-day schools are not required to go to class, adding afternoon classes will proceed as usual
The Observatory issued the red warning at 7.40am. It was replaced by the amber signal at 9.25am, before being cancelled less than an hour later.
It added that it had recorded four cases of flooding by noon. The affected areas consisted of sections of Castle Peak Road and Fu Yung Shan Road in Tsuen Wan, Tsing Tsuen Road near Tsing Yi MTR station and Tong Fong Tsuen in Yuen Long.
All blockages were cleared within two hours, with all affected roadways quickly restored to normal operations, the department said.
The Education Bureau said students attending morning and whole-day schools were not required to go to class while the red warning was in force.
Schools should nevertheless keep their premises open to care for students who had already arrived, the bureau added.
