The number of Hongkongers stranded in the Middle East and seeking help from immigration authorities has risen to more than 580 as the US-Israel war on Iran escalates, while local flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways has extended flight suspensions to Dubai and Saudi capital Riyadh until next Saturday.
A spokesman for the Immigration Department said officers had received inquiries from 585 residents as of 5pm on Tuesday, with four having successfully left the region.

“The rest of the Hongkongers have reported themselves to be in safe locations,” the spokesman said.

He added that the department would keep in touch with Hong Kong residents in the Middle East and provide appropriate help with their journey arrangements and flight schedules.
