Hong Kong will roll out a range of discounts, free rides, giveaways and other deals as the city celebrates the 29th anniversary of its return to Chinese rule on July 1.
From MTR rides to shopping centre coupons, the South China Morning Post unpacks what the city has to offer for the occasion.
1. Free transport
Rail operator the MTR Corporation will give away 71,000 domestic single-journey tickets through a lucky draw on July 1 and offer Airport Express discounts to holders of child Octopus, personalised Octopus with student status and JoyYou cards.
Commuters can also enjoy free rides on all passenger tram routes from July 1 to 3.
Several ferry routes will offer free rides on July 1, with vouchers for certain services to be distributed in advance.

2. Culture, arts and leisure
Some Leisure and Cultural Services Department facilities will be open free of charge, including badminton, tennis, squash and basketball courts, as well as table tennis tables and swimming pools. Hong Kong Wetland Park will also offer free admission that day.
On July 1, most public museums, including the Science Museum and Space Museum, will offer free entry, while the Space Theatre will stage eight free screenings.
Arts fans can enjoy free admission to designated exhibitions at M+ and all thematic exhibitions at the Hong Kong Palace Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District.


Additional free guided tours, as well as dining, retail and accommodation offers, will be available from mid-June to early July at 14 projects under the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club will hold its Hong Kong Reunification Raceday at Sha Tin Racecourse on July 1, with free entry to the public enclosures at Sha Tin and Happy Valley racecourses.

3. Shopping and dining offers
MTR Malls will distribute 22,200 e-coupons worth HK$7.1 million (US$906,074), alongside other spending promotions.
More than 1,000 restaurants and merchants are expected to roll out dining offers on July 1.
Public markets under the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will also introduce various promotions.
Shoppers can enjoy a 29 per cent discount on selected products via the “Local Fresh” online store, mobile app or physical outlets from July 1 to 7.
The Environmental Protection Department will offer double GREEN$ points to residents who recycle at its GREEN@COMMUNITY network on July 1.
The Peak Tram, Ngong Ping 360, Ocean Park Hong Kong and Tai Kwun will introduce ticket promotions.
Hong Kong International Airport, the Hong Kong Science Park and the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park, as well as various shopping centres and department stores, will roll out dining, retail and parking offers.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board will also partner with the industry to provide a range of dining, shopping, attraction, tour and entertainment deals.
