A Hong Kong human rights lawyer has been prosecuted for allegedly sexually assaulting and intimidating a domestic helper earlier this year.
Kenneth Lam, 57, appeared in Kowloon City Court for a second time on Monday, facing three counts of indecent assault and one count of criminal intimidation.
The offences were allegedly committed at a flat in Jordan’s Takshing Terrace between July 2 and July 9, according to a charge sheet.

The lawyer has been released on bail of HK$5,000 (US$643) and is expected to enter a plea at the District Court.
Lam, who specialises in personal injury claims, was once known for his outspoken stance on legal affairs.

He had urged the Law Society, the professional body regulating solicitors’ conduct in Hong Kong, to be more responsive to incidents deemed to have an impact on the city’s rule of law following the 2019 anti-government protests, such as Beijing’s imposition of the national security law in June 2020.
