Hong Kong lawyer who admitted having sex with girl, 12, says relationship genuine
Defence for Kelvin Luk, 40, says Form One pupil also took active steps to engage the accused, including sending him obscene content

Kelvin Luk Kin-ting’s legal counsel on Monday sought to convince the District Court that the defendant, 40, had not groomed his victim to satisfy his sexual desires or taken naked photos of her for financial benefit.
The defence also contended that the Form One pupil had taken active steps to engage the accused as her sexual partner by lying about her age and sending him obscene content on social media.
The court heard that Luk, a former consultant at local law firm HY Leung & Co LLP, developed an “intense infatuation” with the girl, identified in court as “X”, after none of his previous romances with adult women turned into lasting relationships.
When the pair first met on the dating app “Heymandi” in January last year, Luk claimed he was aged around 28 or 29, while the girl portrayed herself as a senior secondary school student preparing for university entrance exams.
They continued the relationship and met for the first time on March 4, even though both realised that neither had been truthful about their age.
