Hong Kong equestrian coach denied bail over hotel room drug death case
British national, 36, appears at Kowloon City Court facing manslaughter and drug charges in connection with hotel room death

An equestrian coach with the Hong Kong Jockey Club has been denied bail after being charged with manslaughter and drugs possession, with prosecutors alleging that he killed a man last week in a suicide pact.
British national Kyle McCullock, 36, appeared at Kowloon City Court for the first time on Wednesday after missing an earlier hearing this week for medical reasons.
McCullock initially faced three drug-related charges for allegedly keeping an unspecified amount of methamphetamine, sildenafil – often sold under the brand name Viagra – three pipes and 36 syringes in a room at The Mira Hong Kong hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui on Friday.
Prosecutors filed an amended indictment on Wednesday levelling a fourth charge of manslaughter, with McCullock accused of killing Leo Chu Ho-yin inside the room.
The defendant was denied bail but reserved his right to renew his application next week. His case is scheduled to be heard again at the same court on March 30.

A police spokesman said the force first received a report at 3.54pm on January 2 that a non-Chinese man intended to take his own life.
