Hong Kong police arrest 2 women as child abuse allegation goes viral online
Father makes social media post accusing helper of causing son’s brain haemorrhage day after two women arrested by police

Hong Kong police have arrested two women on suspicion of child abuse, as a father took to social media to accuse a domestic helper of shaking his four-month-old son, causing a brain haemorrhage and bodily harm.
The force on Tuesday night confirmed that it had arrested two women, aged 28 and 45, suspected of ill-treating a baby boy at a flat in Sheung Shui on Sunday. The suspects were being held in police custody.
On Monday, a post from the father of a four-month-old boy went viral on social media after the man, identified only by his surname Lo, said his son was taken to North District Hospital after suffering a seizure and losing consciousness the day before.
The father said the two women arrested on Sunday were his current and former helpers. The latter sometimes visited his son and was assisting police’s investigation, he added.
The force has not disclosed the identities of either suspect.
The 27-year-old father told the Post that he was at work when he received the call from his current helper at 1.30am on Sunday, saying the baby had vomited and was unresponsive after taking half a bottle of milk.
