Hong Kong police officer removed from duties after swearing at passer-by
Online video shows officer apparently using patrol car loudspeaker to shout abusive words at passer-by at Cho Yiu Chuen estate
A Hong Kong police officer has been removed from duties after he repeatedly swore at a passer-by with a loudspeaker in a patrol car, a source has said.
According to a video clip circulated on social media on Friday, a police car marked “AM 7155” on its roof arrived at Cho Yiu Chuen housing estate in Lai King with its siren on.
Someone inside the vehicle then appeared to use the on-board loudspeaker to shout abusive words at a passer-by dressed in white clothing.
The passer-by immediately responded with a barrage of curses, and profanities were heard again over the police car’s loudspeaker, leading to a heated verbal exchange between the two sides in the middle of the night.
A source told the South China Morning Post that the officer involved had been removed from duties.
“A disciplinary investigation has been initiated immediately to strictly follow up with the matter,” the source said.
