3 Hong Kong ferry services cancelled after vessel with 300 aboard hits pier
Macau-bound TurboJet vessel strikes pier at ferry terminal in Sheung Wan after suffering ‘mechanical failure’; no injuries reported

At least three ferry services to and from Macau will be cancelled after a high-speed catamaran with 300 people on board hit a pier in Hong Kong and required “urgent vessel repairs”, according to the operator.
The TurboJet catamaran hit the pier at the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan shortly after 3.30pm on Saturday, when the Macau-bound vessel returned to the dock because of “mechanical failure”. No injuries were reported.
Images circulating online showed that the bow of the Universal MK 2005 catamaran was slightly damaged and had been covered with a large cloth.
“A passenger on board called police and said the ferry hit the pier when it was just about to set sail to Macau,” a police spokesman said.
“Initial information [we received] is that there were 289 passengers on board, and there was no report of injuries.”
The Macau Marine and Water Bureau also said it had been notified of the incident at around 5.30pm.
