Hong Kong police arrest driver after truck fatally runs over cyclist in Tai Po
Police receive report that man, 52, was pushing bike across On Pong Road when he was allegedly knocked down and run over by truck

Hong Kong police have arrested a 20-year-old truck driver following an accident in Tai Po involving a cyclist who later died of injuries.
The force received a report at 1.43pm on Sunday that a 52-year-old man had been pushing a bicycle across On Pong Road when he was allegedly knocked down and run over by a truck and trapped beneath the vehicle.
The victim sustained serious head injuries and was left unconscious. Paramedics rescued the man and rushed him to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in Tai Po, but he was pronounced dead at 2.20pm.
Pictures posted online showed the truck bore a P plate, used by holders of probationary driving licences.
The force subsequently arrested the driver for dangerous driving causing death. He has been detained for inquiries.
The force’s New Territories North special investigation team of traffic is handling the case.
