2 bodies found in waters off isolated island and Lamma in Hong Kong

Investigations under way to discover identities of woman found in waters off far-flung Shek Kwu Chau and man who washed ashore in southeastern Lamma

Two bodies were recovered from Hong Kong waters in two separate incidents on Sunday, with police working to uncover their identities.

Police received a report at 2.20pm that a woman was seen drifting in the waters about 2km (1.2 miles) off isolated Shek Kwu Chau, an island located 3km west of Cheung Chau.

She was confirmed dead at the scene. No identification documents or suicide note were recovered.

Separately, the force received a report at 3.40pm about a man floating in waters about 20 metres off Shek Pai Wan in southeastern Lamma Island.

Officers arrived to find the man had washed ashore and he was confirmed dead at the scene. No suicide note was found.

Investigations were under way to confirm their identities and postmortems will be conducted to determine the cause of their deaths, police said.
