Hong Kong Cantopop singer Ekin Cheng Yee-kin has called off a concert in Tokyo next month, attributing it to “unforeseen force majeure circumstances”, as tensions between China and Japan escalate.

The cancellation was announced on Tuesday evening on the social media account of Lam & Lamb Entertainment, a management company. Cheng’s concert had been scheduled for December 5 at the Yebisu Garden Place in Tokyo.

“[It] has been cancelled due to unforeseen force majeure circumstances,” the firm’s statement said.
